Ben Affleck is ‘Entertainment Weekly’s’ Entertainer of the Year. Good News for ‘Argo’?

After being out of sight, out of mind in recent weeks from the Oscar race, ‘Argo’ appears ready to charge back in with a new honor. ‘Entertainment Weekly’ has awarded Ben Affleck Entertainer of the Year. Yes, I know it’s not as big of a title as being the highest ranked film on a critic’s top 10 list, but it does get the director and his film back into the spotlight.
Again, Affleck’s story is so appealing, especially to most of the Academy that understand what it’s like to fall from grace and claw your way back to the top. The honor ‘Entertainment Weekly’ bestowed is well-deserved, but whether or not it can surge ‘Argo’s’ chances after seeing a drop-off in buzz post-‘Lincoln’ is anyone’s guess.
